Your parcels will be sent off on the 7 August.

We’re coming up to that time again… and I’m pretty excited about this month’s sock. It’s another first (for me at least-perhaps not for some of you….heehee) but perfect for the longer days that still have a little touch of chill to the evenings. As usual, do let me know if you have any address changes so I can update your addresses.

The May parcel will be posted out on the 26th May. If you would like to pick up from All the Fun of the Fair/Thursday Knit Night, please let me know by email with subject “Sock Club Pick Up” by Saturday 22nd May so I can set yours aside from the mailing piles. Thanks!

Club Bags!

The Be Sweet Mielie Tote samples have finally arrived! They are handmade by Xhosa women in South Africa, just for the Knit Love Club!

The hooked rug tote is made from recycled fabric, lined with an interior pocket and zip closure and measures 31 cm by 34 cm. It has an adjustable leather shoulder strap that at its shortest setting measures 95cm end to end. Because each bag is made by hand, they are one of a kind. I think they did a great job with the wee owls, and I really like the polka dot lining!

They take about 8 weeks to deliver, and cost £150 plus shipping (from the UK to you). If you want one, please email me with BE SWEET CLUB BAG as the subject heading.

March Parcel Time

Coming right up! We are aiming to post out your next kit on the 23rd (Tues) March. If you have an address change let me know.

Other exciting news – I’m having a Knit Love Club bag made by Be Sweet. The bag is the Mielie shopper -a hand-hooked rug tote made from recycled t-shirt material, with one pocket inside and sturdy suede handles. Size is 11×13″. I fell in love with these bags when I saw my BFF Susan with one last year. She had the skull and crossbones bag (love(1)!). I can’t find a photo, so here are a few others from the Be Sweet site so you get the idea of look and feel of the bag:

This is the design for the front and back of the bag, and approximate colours that will be on the bag (each one is made by hand so there are slight variations in design and colour):

The sample should be shipped in April so I’ll post photos as soon as I have it. Very excited! I’m guesstimating a price of about £150 (I need shipping charges and duty to have a more concrete price). Once I’ve had a chance to post photos and test out the bag, I’ll post more details on how to buy.

If you have paid for your membership, you will receive within 24 hours of your payment a Member’s Handbook. If you have not received this, please get in touch as your Handbook has important information to help you make the most of your Club year, including where all the Club social groups can be found. Check in on Ravelry, and join the mini-sock swap as a great way to get to know your fellow members.

Survey Says!

Remember Family Feud? I used to watch it every day after school.

Each question Richard Dawson asked started with “We surveyed 100 people and asked them…” then at the end he would reveal the most popular answer with ‘Survey Says!’.

Not quite the end, so just an interim ‘Survey Says!’:

From the respondents on the survey I am absolutey fascinated to find that:

53% of you enjoy helping others out with questions
64% enjoy knitting in a group
A whopping 89% enjoy trying out new techniques (go intrepid knitters!!)
85% use long tail cast-on as their cast on of choice (that’s my favourite too)
36% of you post on Ravelry
While 82% love purple, the least loved colour is fluorescents with 37% of you wanting to spew when confronted with it. The marginals causing reflux are yellow at 12%, then pastels at 11% and finally orange at 10%.
And finally 65% of you were wearing socks when completing the survey and 36% not. If it makes you feel any better, I wasn’t wearing any either when I wrote it!
